GPON Advanced Design, Planning and Dimensioning

The evolution of FTTH technology cannot be overlooked in the telecommunications industry today. The global market for GPON is projected to reach USD 11.12 Billion by 2030, growing at a CAGR of 5.87% from 2023 to 2030, driven by the growing demand for bandwidth brought about by increasing Internet penetration rate and ‘triple-play’ services. FTTH GPON is also rapidly becoming the preferred choice among major operators – it is already the dominant technology choice in North America. Against this backdrop, next-generation technologies will be required in the access network to deliver ‘bandwidth hungry’ services to consumers.

This is an advanced level course designed to give participants an end-to-end insight into the concepts and technologies which support FTTH GPON systems. The course proceeds from considering the fundamentals principles of optical fiber transmission and PON (e.g., components, applications, best practice) to more complex concepts (e.g., enhanced transmission techniques, advanced functionalities, encapsulation). Participants will be taught how to design a GPON system including planning and dimensioning for several different real life FTTX scenarios.

Instructor-Led Training

  • Classroom: 5 days
  • LIVE Virtual*: 35 hours

*Note:

  • A minimum of 6 or more participants are required for a company-based LIVE Virtual course to commence
  • LIVE Virtual courses can be conducted for 5 hours or 7 hours daily. Please note that the number of training days will be extended if you opt for 5 hours daily.

There are no upcoming course dates currently scheduled for this course. If you are keen on attending this course, please register your interest and indicate your preferred start/end training dates via our course enquiry form for us to open a Classroom/LIVE Virtual class schedule for this course.

Participants will learn the requirements of GPON networks in addition to exploring advanced topics. After the training, engineers will be able to design and plan GPON networks.
