Submarine Networks: Commercial, Regulatory, and Project Management Essentials

Submarine cable running through globe and smart city to represent global interconnectivity

This course provides non-technical professionals with a strategic, end-to-end understanding of the global submarine network industry. Designed to bridge knowledge gaps between technical, commercial, and legal departments, it covers the submarine cable project lifecycle, from feasibility and business case development to commercial operation and maintenance.

Participants will gain critical insights into global traffic trends, various industry players and ownership models, modern revenue models, and capacity pricing. The course also addresses the crucial regulatory, and policy frameworks to prepare attendees of this course for the future of global connectivity.

  • Commercial & Sales Professionals (Wholesale and Enterprise)
  • Legal, Regulatory, and Policy Teams
  • Finance, Procurement, and Investment Analysts
  • Product Managers and Business Developers
  • Project Managers

Upon completing this course, participants will gain a comprehensive view of the global submarine cable ecosystem, including its technologies, stakeholders, business models and project lifecycle. They will be equipped to analyse the commercial and economic case for new cable projects. Participants will also develop practical knowledge of traffic forecasting, CAPEX and cost modelling, capacity commercialisation, pricing, revenue models and key project risks.

The course also provides practical insight into the regulatory factors shaping submarine cable deployment and resilience. Participants will explore international maritime law, cable protection, environmental requirements, market access, national security and regulatory barriers, supported by relevant industry case studies.

By the end of the course, participants will be better positioned to evaluate investment and connectivity opportunities, identify commercial and regulatory risks, engage effectively with industry stakeholders, and make informed decisions in a rapidly evolving global submarine cable market.
