Training Roadmap for Fiber Optics Communications Courses
Our fiber optics courses, organized into categories that reflect both conceptual depth and practical skill development, are designed to guide learners from foundational principles to advanced system-level expertise in a clear, structured progression.
Telefocal Certified Optical Networking Expert (TC-ONE)
To earn full recognition as a TC-ONE, participants must successfully complete all five (5) courses within the program and pass the TC-ONE certification exam. The exam assesses mastery of key concepts, practical skills, and industry standards covered throughout the curriculum. Only those who complete all courses and pass the certification exam will receive the official program certification.
IP Networking
Basic
This course provides foundational knowledge of IP routing, switching and network access technologies to telecom professionals with little or no prior knowledge of IP. It aims to explain the principles, concepts, and common implementations of IP routing, switching and transmission technologies within the context of a telecom working environment. Practical and lab exercises will be covered. Learn more.
Access Network
Basic
This course offers a practical and comprehensive overview of modern optical networking, covering key technologies like optical fiber, FTTx, SDH/OTN/DWDM, and packet-optical networking. Participants will explore real-world deployment considerations across metro, long-haul, data center, and backbone environments. It provides the insights needed to design, operate, and evolve networks to meet the soaring bandwidth demands of 5G, cloud computing, broadband, and hyperscalers. Learn more.
Intermediate
This course provides an end-to-end overview of FTTH GPON systems, covering everything from basic optical fiber transmission principles to advanced functionalities and encapsulation techniques. Participants will learn how to design, plan, and dimension GPON networks for various real-life FTTX scenarios. Additionally, the training includes a hands-on workshop focused on utilizing GIS tools like QGIS for network planning. Learn more.
Core Network
Intermediate
A practical course explaining the migration from SDH to modern transport technologies, covering OTN and MPLS-TP architectures, components, standards, and planning fundamentals for today’s high-capacity telecom networks. Learn more.
Advanced
5. SDH and DWDM Engineering for Metro and Long-Haul
A comprehensive course on modern optical networking, covering DWDM, OTN, and Layer 2 technologies. Learn fiber fundamentals, network design and installation, key DWDM components, and essential planning, optimization, and troubleshooting skills for managing advanced optical networks. Learn more.
Submarine Cable Systems
Basic
Designed for professionals seeking a broader view of the subsea ecosystem, this program focuses on commercial frameworks, regulatory requirements, contracting, project management cycles, and stakeholder coordination across the lifecycle of a cable system. Learn more.
Intermediate
This course offers a practical overview of submarine power cable systems, covering AC/DC cable design, project planning, route surveys, installation, permitting, and operations. Through real case studies, participants gain both technical and commercial insights needed to develop and manage reliable offshore energy and interconnector projects. Learn more.
Advanced
This is a certification course in submarine cable system networks. Participants will learn basic optical communications technologies, the deployment of submarine cable, network design for dry and wet plants and cable landing stations, as well as strategic planning. It will also cover advanced topics on the management of submarine cable businesses through consortium/Private-Public Partnerships (PPP) or private cable operators. Learn more.
Fiber Optics Deployment
Advanced
This 5-day certification course provides participants with a comprehensive understanding of optical fiber fundamentals, optical networks and technologies, and outside plant network architecture.
