Transmission Network Audit, Analysis and Optimization

Course Objectives:

Mobile network operators in general have legacy TDM digital microwave TDM/Packet radios, satellites, copper and optical fiber for point to point and point to multipoint transmissions backhaul in their access and core networks.

To validate the degree of performance of an operator’s transmissions network often requires detail performance analysis of the transmission network. The results will suggest if the transmissions network has been designed for optimum performance and is in line with established ITU standards. Therefore reliability and availability become the two critical performance factors that determine the successful operation of the transmissions backhaul network.

This intensive 3 days course begins with the overview of transmissions radio, optical and satellite system design and analysis, addressing operating frequency, available spectrum, channel bandwidth, modulation schemes, radio access techniques, link budget analysis.

The course relies heavily on instructor/class interaction, simulations and exercises that aid the participants to develop an intuitive understanding of both the theoretical concepts and their practical application approach when doing network audit analysis and optimization.

Course participants will learn how to collect the required data for a comprehensive network analysis and collate the data in maintaining a true representation of the samples. Participants will be able to process the data to obtain a comprehensive and compact representation of the results and finally analyze the data to highlight any deviance in the Network Performance (Reality x Design) and Create reports for different level of requirement (management – engineering – deployment…).

Pre-Requisite for Participants:

Knowledge of mobile transmission backhaul technologies and general transmissions network planning with radio, fiber and satellite technologies is highly recommended.
