This instructor-led training event guides participants through the migration from SDH transport technologies to Optical Transport Network (OTN) technologies.
An Optical Transport Network refers to a series of standards created to combine the benefits of SONET/SDH with the bandwidth-expanding capabilities of DWDM in order to build more network functionality into optical networks – and with considerable costs savings.
Migration from SDH to OTN has been happening for a number of years now – as operators recognize the need to provide network capacity and functionality to cater for the dramatic changes occurring in the telecommunications landscape e.g. big data, Internet of Everything, 5G backhaul, cloud computing, Smart cities.
The course the key OTN technologies, components (Active, Passive and Optical), architectures, parameters and standards involved. An introduction into OTN Planning is also included as part of this course agenda.
- Good understanding of telecommunications transmission principles.
- Prior attendance at Course C1: SDH/DWDM Fundamentals is highly desirable
