Course Objectives:

On completion of the training, the student will be able to:

  • Understand the history of the internet and what we can expect in the future
  • Appreciate legacy access technologies (e.g. ADSL, VDSL) and their technical limitations
  • Be familiar with the basic principles of fiber optic transmission
  • Understand the key components in an FTTH GPON including customer installation
  • Recognise the issues and challenges faced by an FTTH network designer
  • Appreciate the day to day challenges faced by an FTTH technician

Pre-Requisite for Participants:

Good knowledge on Fiber Optic Communication or Transmission planning.
