Course Objectives:

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand GSM/UMTS network on a system-wide level
  • Describe functionality of the SS7-SIGTran network in GSM/UMTS/LTE environment
  • Describe message routing on MTP and SCCP levels
  • Understand and explain the most popular SIGTRAN User Adaptation Layers including: - MTP3 User Adaptation (M3UA) - SCCP User Adaptation (SUA)
  • Understand and explain the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP)
  • Describe signaling procedures on different protocol levels (SS7/SIP/Diameter)
  • Understand the risks on each of these protocols and the protection principles
  • Understand the nature of some of these attacks with examples of attacks detailed and explained

Pre-Requisites for Participants:

  • Participants should have attended GSM or UMTS or LTE Technology course, or should have the equivalent knowledge
  • Practical experience in wireless is recommended

Target Audience:

The course is intended for experienced network engineers, network tuning staff and anyone with network experience, who requires in-depth technical knowledge on the functionality of GSM signaling.
