Satellite Ethernet Services for 4G/5G Networks

This course provides a comprehensive understanding of ethernet-based satellite networks for mobile communications. Participants will learn about the fundamentals of satellite leased lines based on ethernet technology.

The course will cover MEF-standardized services and their role in ethernet-based satellite networks, bandwidth profiles for satellite, the architecture of mobile communications and their role in satellite networks carrier ethernet, mobile backhaul, supplemented by satellite use cases for corporate leased lines and mobile backhaul applications.

By the end of the course, participants will have gained a comprehensive understanding of ethernet-based satellite networks and their applications in mobile communications, as well as the practical knowledge and skills needed to develop and implement successful satellite solutions.

This course aims to provide participants with the knowledge and skills required to plan, design, and optimize ethernet-based satellite leased lines and mobile backhaul solutions using satellite networks. At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the fundamentals of satellite leased lines based on ethernet
  • Identify MEF-standardized services and their role in ethernet-based satellite networks
  • Explain the attributes of point-to-point, multipoint-to-multipoint, and rooted-multipoint services in satellite networks
  • Understand Ethernet OAM based on IEEE 802.3ah and its use in satellite networks

Participants must have completed the ‘An Overview of Satellite Communications‘ course before taking this course. This course assumes and builds on participants’ foundational understanding of SATCOM.
