Course Overview
After years of research, development and
implementation of several approaches, the Internet is becoming the
only network providing universal connectivity and offering all kind
of services. Among the newest services that users are expecting
from the Internet we can find all multimedia-based applications,
mainly IP Telephony.
New protocols are being purposed by both, the ITU-T and the IETF
organizations in order to transport signaling and voice over IP.
However other issues such as quality of service, management and
security are also as important and are being defined to get a full
integration with legacy telephone networks.
In this seminar you will learn the basics on Voice over IP, as well
as the main protocol to transport media and different alternatives
to signal an IP telephony call. Other topics, such as quality of
service, and management are also covered. You will get an understanding
of the architecture, components and services on an IP telephony
system realizing advantages and difficulties of such a network.
Pre-Requisites for Participants
Attendees must have a good understanding
of IP and related protocols and a basic knowledge on telephony networks.
