Course Objectives
- Understand why indoor solutions are needed and how they can be integrated with the existing outdoor 3G network
- Understand the type of antenna system to use, how many antennas are required and where to install the antennas for maximum coverage and capacity and minimum interference
- Control traffic to and from an indoor cell as desired by using parameters and features
- Learn about femptocells and their role in converging fixed and mobile networks
Course Overview
3G mobile devices are increasingly being used as the only communications device both outdoors and indoors. With the advent of mobile wireless broadband like HSDPA/HSUPA, there is an increased need to provide enhanced 3G coverage inside building. This course looks at how indoor coverage and capacity can be increased by deploying special solutions. Increased QoS is acheved through the appropriate design and installation of indoor 3G cells, i.e. micro, pico or nano cells. The different types of applications are described, together with the design of each type to meet the needs of public and business solutions.
