3G Benchmarking and Optimisation
Course Duration
5-day instructor-led training, 0900-1700

Course Instructor

The course instructor has more than 7 years of experience in WCDMA radio network planning and optimisation from major mobile network operators. He has planned/designed and optimized the initial phase of the commercial Orange UK 3G network. Also, he has been actively involved in consulting mobile network operators on wireless technologies regarding HSDPA/HSUPA deployment, WiMAX, Flash-OFDM, WCDMA- TDD, WiBro and Mobile TV.

He offers on-demand courses on wireless technologies specializing on the planning/optimization as well as the techno-economic/strategic aspects of them.

Course Objectives
By the end of the course delegates will be able to:
  • Describe the fundamentals of performance measurement
  • Collect and present statistical data of these measurements
  • Know what the measurement limitations are and how tolerances provide valuable information for validation and evaluation.
  • Know how performance measurement is captured and analyzed using software
  • Know which parameters are key to optimize to increase 3G performance

Course Overview

An in-depth and practical training course that explains how to identify, measure and optimize the main problems of today’s UMTS live networks. It provides a solid background for daily 3G work activities covering a wide range of benchmarking and performance measurements that help to troubleshoot and optimize the 3G networks.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and measurements (i.e. throughput measurements,success/failure analysis, handover analysis etc…) that are not described in the 3GPP documentation but derived through practical experience will be discussed.

Key Benefits

Delegates will be trained on state-of-the art knowledge regarding 3G benchmarking and
parameter optimization.

Pre-Requisites for Participants
